Melinda Sickle, Senior Pharmacy Technician, 21 years
Melinda says, "When I started at Chase Brexton in 2002 it was the peak of the AIDS epidemic, we had extremely sick patients who were outcast by their community and their families. Most had seen the strain on the medical system and had no resources to obtain the care they needed until they came to Chase Brexton. Just to know you are in a safe place where you are not judged, people really do care and will take all the extra steps to make sure you get the treatment, counseling, and medications they needed desperately meant the word to them. What a wonderful thing. They were hooked and so was I. It's been 22 years of meeting the most amazing people past and present and still being able to provide that care, compassion, hugs, and words of encouragement to this day. I am proud and honored to continue this joyous ride."
Vicki Helmick, Facilities Supervisor, 11 years
Vicki says, "I have always liked helping people. Working in the Facilities Dept. allows me to help people in ways I never imagined. When I was very young, my parents asked me what I wanted "to be" when I grew up. My answer was a Nurse. I never followed up on that career. I landed in the Facilities Dept. while working for Monumental Life Insurance Company and have worked in the Charles Street building since April 13, 1987. I began my employment with Chase Brexton on March 11, 2013. Accepting a position working for a company in the healthcare field was a good choice for me because it satisfies my need to help people and keeps me very busy."
