Just a few hours of your time can help us to make sure HIV ends with US.

In order to make it a fun and successful Baltimore AIDS Walk & Music Festival, we rely on dozens of volunteers on the day of the event, and dozens more during months and weeks leading up to the event.

How can you help? Check out our volunteer opportunities.

  • Pre-Event Volunteer Opportunities: Mailings, staffing information tables, social media promotion, registrant package creation, and more.

  • Day-of Event Opportunities: Producing a city-wide event attended by hundreds of people requires a lot of help during the week leading up to the event, and on the morning of the event. Tasks include packing event materials, loading and unloading trucks, setting up tables and refreshment stands, checking in walkers, route support, and more.
  • Post-event Volunteer Opportunities:  Everything from the event has to be unloaded at Chase Brexton, inventoried, and packed away. In addition, we need to enter data, write thank you notes, and set up for next year's campaign.
Ready to get started? Fill out the online Volunteer Registration Form. Or download a digital form to email.

Still have some questions? Want to add your name to our volunteer contact list for future events? Please email us at info@baltimoreaidswalk.org

Please register to volunteer as soon as you can - by May 20, 2019!

VOLUNTEER FAQ

WHERE, Directions, & PARKING

Where is this year's walk? ...AND, what's the best way to get the event venue? Also – what’s the parking situation like?

Power Plant Live! is located just one block from downtown Baltimore’s Inner Harbor ( 34 Market Place, Baltimore, MD 21202). Driving and public transportation directions are available here.  Parking is available at Pier V Parking (711 East Pratt Street) and volunteers will receive discounted parking at Pier V.

CHECK-IN

Where should I go when I arrive? Volunteer check in will be at Power Plant Live!. At check-in, you will receive volunteer t-shirt and be directed to your assignment.

We will make every effort to accommodate requests regarding special needs and assignments. We appreciate your flexibility – assignments are made based on your arrival time and the needs of the event at that time.

Time

What time should I be there? Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled shift.

During the day of the event, we will have two shifts for volunteers:  7:00 am – 11:00 am and 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Perks of Volunteering

What do I get out of this deal? As a volunteer, you will be given the official 2019 Baltimore AIDS Walk & Music Festival Volunteer t-shirt.

And, day-of-event volunteers will receive a free lunch and a free registration, depending on your shift, to either participate in the Walk or attend the music festival.

Service hours

I'm required to complete service hours for my school or community program. Can you provide verification of my AIDS Walk & Music Festival volunteer hours?

Yes! If you have a verification form that requires a signature, please bring it with you when you volunteer and we will sign it at the completion of your volunteer assignment.

If you require a letter confirming your service hours, please e-mail us at info@baltimoreaidswalk.org the week after the Walk with all the details.

register & Volunteer

I'm registered to walk. Can I also volunteer?

Yes! You can choose to volunteer for the afternoon shift, or if you want to help us in the morning, just let us know you’re a participant and we’ll make sure you get to the walk start line in plenty of time.

This does not apply to volunteers on the route – registered participants should not volunteer for any of the on-route opportunities.

Fundraising

Can I fundraise?

Absolutely! We would love for you to collect donations – let your friends and family know that you’d appreciate their support as you spend your time supporting the AIDS Walk & Music Festival.

At the same time, know that we place no expectation on volunteers to raise money. Your time commitment in support of the fight against HIV/AIDS is invaluable to us.

Age Minimum

How old do you have to be to be a volunteer? Can I bring my kids with me to volunteer?

Volunteers must be at least 13 years old on the day of the event.

Volunteers between the ages of 13 and 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult Volunteer.

last minute volunteering?

Can I decide at the last minute to volunteer, or bring someone with me to volunteer?

We encourage anyone interested in volunteering to sign up by May 20, 2019 to receive their preferred position on event day.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to register anyone to volunteer at the event. Please note – only registrants and volunteers will have access to the event. There will be places along the route to cheer if you miss out on volunteering this year.

Groups/friends

Will I be with my friends?

If you would like to volunteer with your friends, please e-mail us and provide us with their names so that you will be placed in the same group.
