Addictions ServicesChase Brexton provides treatment for people struggling with drug and alcohol problems. We have a dedicated staff of addictions professionals who provide screenings, evaluations, crisis interventions, individual and group counseling, psychoeducational groups, intensive outpatient program services, as well as referrals to more intensive treatment programs as needed. For patients who also have HIV/AIDS, addressing alcohol and/or drug problems increases a person’s ability to keep medical appointments, maintain medication schedules, and to otherwise participate in their own health care. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)To augment our integrated substance abuse, mental health and primary care "whole person" philosophy of care, Chase Brexton has expanded the available substance abuse services by adding an Enhanced Services Program and an intensive outpatient program, (IOP) which is located in Building B on the 1st floor. While open to anyone in need of more intensive substance abuse treatment, our enhanced services and IOP program specifically target those at risk for or living with HIV/AIDS, the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community, individuals struggling with sexuality issues, and men who have sex with men (MSMs). The IOP combines social support with traditional drug treatment and focuses on education and behavioral change. Buprenorphine Maintenance ProgramAs an additional program to compliment our addictions services, several Chase Brexton primary care physicians offer buprenorphine maintenance. Buprenorphine is a prescription medicine that is an effective treatment for opiate addiction, whether to prescription opiates (like Percocet and Oxycontin) or to heroin. This treatment, as part of an addictions intensive outpatient treatment program, has been very helpful for individuals who have not been successful quitting opiates with an abstinence-only program. Because we promote addictions treatment as an integrated part of overall healthcare, persons receiving buprenorphine must be Chase Brexton medical patients, as well as participants in our addictions program. Persons interested in buprenorphine, including those who are not already patients at Chase Brexton, should first contact one of our addictions counselors. If the counselor recommends acceptance into the program, he or she can also advise on how to become a medical patient. Club Drug and Methamphetamine TreatmentIn collaboration with Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, and funded by the Maryland AIDS Administration/Department of Health and Human Services, Chase Brexton has developed a special program to address methamphetamine and club drug use in Baltimore. This program, Providing New Perspectives (PnP), is designed to provide treatment which is specifically oriented to the needs of gay male club drug users, and can assist in stopping or better controlling use of methamphetamine and club drugs. PnP also aims to provide information and education to individuals who are seeking more information about methamphetamine and club drugs. Both groups and individual counseling are available, free of charge. To download more information about PnP, please click here. Addictions Service Hours: Mt.
