Baltimore (Aug. 31, 2016) - Chase Brexton Health Care is expanding substance abuse services at their Glen Burnie Center with the establishment of a comprehensive outpatient substance abuse program.
The center, located at 200 Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie, will offer an array of services including screening and evaluations, intensive and traditional outpatient treatment, and DWI/DUI education.
“We’ve seen a great need for additional substance abuse treatment in Anne Arundel County,” said Pete Taylor, Director of Substance Use Treatment Services for Chase Brexton Health Care. “We believe our model of care will help patients live their healthiest lives.”

Drug overdoses have become a serious public health challenge in Maryland and across the country. The number of overdose deaths in Maryland has risen steadily since 2010, mainly due to the increase in heroin-related deaths. According to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, as it becomes more difficult and expensive to obtain prescription opioids, the use of cheaper and more accessible heroin is more common.
Chase Brexton Health Care’s Glen Burnie Center opened in 2014, when the closure of People’s Community Health Centers left a large number of Anne Arundel residents at risk of losing their connection to health care. In addition to substance abuse services, expansion is underway at the center to add dental and pediatric care.
